How to Use This Site

A quick-start guide to navigating the Colorado Scratch Analyzer dashboard and maximizing its analytical tools.

01. Understanding the Leaderboard & Rankings

The main dashboard ranks all active Colorado Lottery scratch games using a Composite Score (0 to 100). The games at the top of the list represent the best statistical opportunities based on remaining top prizes, time-based ticket depletion, overall payout percentages, and hit frequencies.

  • Rank (#): Sorted automatically by highest score, highlighting the top-performing ticket values.
  • Composite Score Bar: Visual indicator of overall viability. Green bars indicate top-tier opportunities (70+ score).

02. Filtering by Price Tier & Game Mode

Use the filter controls above the table to customize what games are displayed:

  • Ticket Price Buttons ($1 to $50): Click any price bracket to instantly isolate tickets within that specific budget.
  • Jackpot Mode (≤10 Top Prizes): Focused view for games with limited jackpots (e.g., 2 to 9 top prizes), where tracking inventory is critical.
  • Burst Mode (>10 Top Prizes): Switches to high-frequency "Frenzy" or cash-crop style games that feature hundreds or thousands of recurring top prizes.
  • Show/Hide Toggles: Check or uncheck boxes to include or hide games with announced claim deadlines (⚠️ Ending Soon) or depleted inventories (Dead Games).

03. Inspecting the Math Behind Any Game

Want to see exactly why a game received its score?

Click on any row in the table to open the mathematical breakdown modal. This inspects the game's start date, estimated unsold pool percentage, raw versus capped Jackpot Concentration Index (JCI), and a sub-score breakdown for each weighted factor.

04. Adjusting Weights & Normalization Modes

Click the ⚙️ Weights & Curve button in the top navigation bar to open the custom parameter drawer:

  • Scoring Sliders: Adjust the percentage weight assigned to JCI, Payout %, Hit Frequency, and Prize Multiple. Sliders automatically re-normalize to 100%.
  • Shelf-Life & JCI Caps: Fine-tune the expected baseline lifespan (default 365 days) or JCI score cap (default 3.0x).
  • Global vs. Best in Price Tier: Toggle between comparing all games cross-price or normalizing tickets strictly against other games of the exact same price.

05. Updating the Data

Click 📥 Import Scratch Insider Data in the header whenever you want to load fresh figures. You can upload a downloaded CSV file directly from the Colorado Lottery Scratch Insider page or paste copied table text into the importer box.
